POSTURAL CORRECTIONThere are 2 kinds of postures – one in motion and the other when stationary.
It is important to understand that a good posture has positive impacts on our health and vice versa. |
FROZEN SHOULDERA common condition that causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder.
While this condition is more prevalent in people above the age of 40 (diabetic or suffering from Thyroid problems), there is a growing trend that it affects the younger generation too. |
JOINT DISLOCATIONThis refers to the displacement of the bones caused by trauma, or due to the weakening of muscles and tendons at a joint from their usual positions, which may lead to damage of tissue in the area.
A joint can either be partially or fully dislocated. More commonly dislocated are the shoulders and fingers but it also occurs in elbows, knees, and hips as well. This injury can be treated by having our Physiotherapist to reposition the dislocated joint. |
TENNIS / GOLFER'S ELBOWThese conditions are similar.
They arise when the tendons and muscles in your elbows are overused, resulting in inflammation or tears. |
ANTERIOR CRUCIATE LIGAMENT (ACL) TEARThe ACL connects our thighbone to our shinbone.
Injuries to the ACL range from a sprain to complete tears of the ligament. This is a common knee injury amongst athletes which can happen when they stop too abruptly or land incorrectly. |
ROTATOR CUFF INJURYThis injury is common, and the risk of contracting it increases as we age.
The Rotator Cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that keeps our arm in place in our shoulder socket. Injuries to the rotator cuff range from mild inflammation to complete tears. The pain from these injuries will render our arms less useful in daily life. |
ASTHMAAsthma, the inflammation of the lungs, is a common disease which affects both children and adults.
When this happens, patients will display symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and experience pain or pressure in the chest. Asthma causes breathing difficulties when the airways tighten or are filled with mucus and makes air harder to pass through. |
HYPERTENSIONThis chronic condition is one of the most common experienced worldwide.
Continuous, high pressure on the walls of our arteries causes damage to them which leads to a myriad of health conditions including but not limited to heart attacks or stroke. Therefore, it is so important for early intervention for this condition. |
ANGINAAngina is a pain, pressure heaviness and tightness on the chest.
It is caused by insufficient blood flow to the heart. It could be a warning sign that the patient is at risk of a heart attack or stroke, and medical attention should be sought immediately. |
PARKINSON'S DISEASEA neurological disorder that leads to often involuntary muscle movements that obstructs your daily life activities.
Patients will experience difficulty with walking, balancing and coordination. Symptoms usually start simple and worsen with time. Treatment for this condition includes exercises to help build up the patients’ strength and increase the range of motion (functional, balance and endurance) to alleviate the symptoms and improve their quality of life. |
MULTIPLE SCLEROSISThis is a disease of the brain and spinal cord which potentially causes disability.
Depending on the severity of the damage, the condition can affect the vision, movement of limbs, loss of sensation, and balance. |
BELL'S PALSYThis condition is a sudden paralysis of one’s facial muscles.
Studies show that this condition is temporary in most people and improves within a few weeks (estimated). Physiotherapy has been proven highly effective for patients with Bell’s Palsy. |
BALANCE DYSFUNCTIONA balance disorder makes you dizzy easily.
You may feel like you are moving even when you are not and have trouble trying to stay upright. Therefore, this disorder can pose a danger in your daily life. In layman’s terms, this disorder happens when the sensory systems between our eyes, ears and brains are impaired. |
SPINAL CORD INJURYOur spinal cords are extremely important.
They support our body structure and are made of complex systems of nerves. These nerves relay signals from the brain. A Spinal Cord Injury can affect our sensations, reflexes or bladder and intestinal functions. In more severe cases, or if left to worsen, it could even result in paralysis. POST-OPERATION REHABILITATIONBased upon the specific needs of the patient.
Case by case analysis by our Physiotherapist. |
STROKE REHABILITATIONOur Physiotherapist will show you motor-skill exercises to improve muscle strength and coordination.
This includes training aid equipment like walkers, canes, or ankle braces. Forced-use therapy will be administered on the patient if the condition warrants. Range of motion treatments and exercises will be shown to the patient which decreases muscle tension to eventually increase range of motion. Our treatments will help you to reacquire skills lost due to a stroke and regain independence, improving your quality of life. |
